Escribo poemas y relatos desde hace años. Un día me atrevía a escribir una novela que para mi sorpresa fue reconocida con el premio xPlora 2013, en Valencia, España. Al recibir la noticia lloré de la emoción y salté en la cama hasta pasada la medianoche. Si hasta le sacaron un booktrailer al libro y todo.
En “Hembra” exploro el significado de “hembritud” a través de un viaje por la India. Es una novela políticamente incorrecta para adultos con alto contenido de erotismo y sexualidad, entre otras cosas. Yo la veo como una historia de viaje, aunque la han clasificado como “un diario de sexo-aventuras”, ¿un nuevo género? Me va bien.

I’ve been writing poems and stories for years. One day I decided to go for a novel. To my surprise, it won the xPlora 2013 prize in Valencia, Spain. When I received the news I cried tears of joy and jumped on the bed until well over midnight. They even made a cool booktrailer for the book.
“Hembra” means female in Spanish, in the book I explore the meaning of “femalehood” through a trip around India. It’s a politically incorrect novel for adults, with high contents of sex and eroticism among other things. I see the novel as a “road story”, a journey, but they’ve called it “a diary of sex-adventures”, ¿a new genre? Fine by me.
For now it is only in Spanish, but I already have many English speaking readers waiting for it. I’m sure there’s a publisher out there interested in translating it.
